# Phoenix Islands

**Phoenix Islands** is a library for creating islands of various frontend frameworks in Phoenix LiveView.

## Features

- **Live Islands**: We can enjoy huge front-end ecosystem without losing _Liveliness_. Only React is supported for now, but we can go as far as all framework that [nanostore](https://github.com/nanostores/nanostores) supports in the near future.
- **Stream support**: That means no more giant JSON eating up server memory.
- **LiveView children passing (Experimental)**: LiveView inside React inside Live-View.

## Installation

The package can be installed by adding `phoenix_islands` to your list of dependencies in `mix.exs`:

def deps do
  [
    {:phoenix_islands, "~> 0.1.1"}
  ]
end
```

## Usage

First you need to add `import PhoenixIslands` to your views:

```elixir
defmodule ExampleWeb.IslandsLive do
  use ExampleWeb, :live_view

  # add this
  import PhoenixIslands

  def mount(_params, _session, socket) do
    {:ok, assign(socket, :counter, 1)}
  end

  def handle_event("update_counter", %{"counter" => counter}, socket) do
    {:noreply,
     assign(
       socket,
       :counter,
       if(is_binary(counter), do: String.to_integer(counter), else: counter)
     )}
  end
end
```

And then you can pick an frontend framework of your liking, say...

## React

Then you can integrate React by following [this instruction](`e:phoenix_islands:react.md`) and start rendering:
